The IAAM finalizes its plans for basketball finals
2/18/2010
When a pro or college team or conference has to postpone games due to weather, it is easy enough to rebook their own venues. However, when a high school conference is forced to reshuffle tournament dates at a rented facility the task can be overwhelming.
The two blizzards of the last two weeks not only hampered the teams and their ability to prepare for and play playoff games, it sent the IAAM scrambling for a new venue for its basketball finals, which were originally slated for last Sunday at Stevenson University. That task has now been completed and with a little cooperation from Mother Nature, everything should come to happy conclusion this Sunday.
The IAAM A Conference championship game will now be played at 1:00 p.m., prior to the MIAA finals for its B and C Conferences. The IAAM B and C Conference title games will be played at the College of Notre Dame, with the C game starting at 3:00 p.m. and the B game tipping at 5:00 p.m.
The 1:00 p.m. slot at UMBC was originally reserved for the MIAA C Conference title game, but that game was scheduled to be moved to Tuesday at Gilman, should Chapelgate Christian, the league's top seed reach the final. The MIAA C Conference finalists will be not be known until Friday night, but the MIAA has now agreed to move that game regardless of who is playing in it.
Admission at UMBC is $8.00, while the admission at the College of Notre Dame is $7.00. However fans wishing to attend games at both sites can get their hands stamped at UMBC in order to receive free admission at CND.
